Notes: Extremely rare album released in 1971. This is truly the "grandaddy" of all Pink Floyd vinyl bootlegs, having spawned numerous re-pressings and reissues. This album (and in particular the copy shown here) was first sold outside of the Amsterdam Free Concert on June 26, 1971, only four months after it was recorded at the Hamburg Musikhalle on February 25, 2971. That concert is famous for the downpouring of rain, and it's amazing that any copies of this LP sold at the show made it home in decent shape. Having no title, it's commonly referred to as the "Obscene Cover" or the "Spread Legs Cover." It is easily differentiated from reissues with similar covers in that (1) it has a thin laminated cover with inner pockets, (2) the cover image is highly detailed and and clearly depicts a pen drawing that has been shaded with pencil or charcoal (reissue covers are much less detailed and are simply black and white), (3) its matrix number is simply 1/2/3/4 (not M502), (4) it has no title or song listing on the outside of the cover, and (5) it has white labels bearing a yellow bar and "1971" - that designation appears once on the Side 1 and 2 labels, and twice on the side 3 and 4 labels. The spine simply says "Pink Floyd." The inside of the cover includes the song listing, and says "all rights are free" - "made in hong hong" in the lower right.
