The purpose of this site is to provide a comprehensive and detailed guide to collecting vintage Pink Floyd vinyl bootlegs. “Vintage” means LPs released in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, when Pink Floyd was actively recording and touring, and before vinyl was killed off at the hands of the CD (only recently to be resurrected).
To be listed on this site, a bootleg must have been chronicled in a trustworthy publication near the time of its release, such as Miles, Hot Wax, Kraska, or Voigts. This site excludes one-offs, homemade inserts, old discs in new packaging, and the like.
It should be noted that more Pink Floyd vinyl bootlegs have been pressed over the past few years than during the entire three decades covered by this site. While many of the recent releases are very nice and quite collectible, they are outside the scope of this guide.
Also, with so many newer pressings flooding the market, a common complaint among new collectors is the difficulty in determining whether a particular LP is an original vintage pressing or a newer release. This guide is intended to provide a complete list of the vintage Pink Floyd bootlegs with as much detail as possible, including the pressing pattern under the label, the matrix numbers, cover details, etc., to distinguish the originals from the newer pressings.
